Junior Golf is reaching new heights at Horton Park

With facilities that include an 18 hole adventure golf course, a coaching team with years of experience, cutting edge unique junior lessons as well as award winning junior coaches and junior county coaches. Horton Park is the ideal place for any aspiring young golfer.

The volume of juniors at the club is a combination of the superb facilities (18 hole course, 9 hole academy course, 18 hole adventure golf course, 27 holes of footgolf, fling golf) and welcoming family atmosphere.

The number of talented juniors at the club is not by chance either. The Coaching teams philosophy of developing athletes that love golf is producing some of the best golfers in the county. Horton Park juniors are making up 25% of the Surrey JAGS squad! (20 out of 80 juniors in the county).

Their progression in the club pathway is being mirrored at a county level with Horton players representing the club in the County Academy Programme and Elite Squads.

Juniors are starting as young as 3 years old in specific under 6 roll up sessions designed to develop FUNdamental basics such as agility, balance and coordination. If you think you know what a golf lesson looks like, think again!

Players as young as 5 are on the golf course representing the club and playing in our very own ‘Cappagh Cup’ every Sunday. There is a full fixture list of other junior events on The Millennium Course and we’ll be holding our first junior open this year plus hosting a Wee Wonders qualifier!

Even as players develop, our coaching is very much tasked based allowing techniques to emerge from the changing environment. This player centered approach produces techniques that are owned by the individuals rather than forcing any particular style upon them. This allows players to be more adaptable while playing and feel more comfortable under pressure.

“Joshua has been coming down to HPGC since September and due to Oli’s interesting, fun and exciting coaching technics golf is fast becoming his favourite sport which I feel is a big thing for a 6 yr old when he and all his friends are football crazy.
Joshua started off his golf journey by attending a holiday golf camp for a couple of days when I asked him did he have fun he stated that it was the best day ever …..even better than football !!!
Every lesson he has he always comes away asking when can he have another !!
The lessons are very varied and the coaching techniques are very unique as they incorporate the core skills needed to improve him as a golfer however they are often in the form of fun and interacting games.
As all parent you just want to see you son smile and after every lesson Joshua is beaming from ear to ear !!
Most importantly Joshua is enjoying learning the basic golfing skills that will allow him to enjoy the game for many years to come.
I would recommend the junior coaching academy at HPGC to all parents”

If you’re child is yet to experience golf at Horton Park, come along and try one of our roll up lessons for free! If they enjoy it you’ll be just in time to join the 100s of juniors we’ll be coaching in our Easter Holiday Camps.
